Setting baseline shift and leading

Baseline shift determines how closely text sits above, below, or on its natural baseline. Use baseline shift to create subscript and superscript characters.

Leading determines the distance between adjacent lines in a paragraph. Specifically, leading is the percentage of the point size that lines are separated baseline to baseline.

Use the Text Editor to set the baseline shift and leading.

To set baseline shift and leading:

1 In the Text Editor, select the characters you want to change.
2 From the Leading pop-up menu, choose a leading value. 100% is the default.
3 From the Baseline Shift pop-up menu, choose an amount to subscript or superscript the text.
4 Click OK.
